Bitter Sweet Homecoming

The day has finally come

When we go to welcome our son

From a country call Iraq

It seemed like he would never come back

There are so many that went to fight

Some will never grace our sight

Its for these.....the soldiers stand tall

In respect for the fallen and their final roll call

I look at my son and all his brothers

They are willing to fight and die for others

They will pack and leave the comforts of home

To sleep on the ground and the desert roam

They will be shot at, wounded, and some will die

This is not a job for the weak or shy

They fought day and night and frequently faced death

But god was with them in every breath

But there were a few he took home

to add them to the army of his own

And when the great day comes, we will all be there

When the great warriors stand up one by one,

with their stories to share

It’s so nice to have our boy back

But our thoughts and prayers are still with

the Fallen & the Soldiers in Iraq
